Health, Safety, and Emergency

Health Practices

At Açı Schools, we emphasize the importance of working together to foster a culture of health and well-being for our students, all stakeholders, and our community. We aim to maintain a safe and supportive environment by developing comprehensive health policies and practices that encompass the physical, mental, and emotional health of all our stakeholders.

You can access detailed information on topics such as emergency interventions, medication usage, practices related to infectious and chronic diseases, etc., through the “Health Procedure” of our school, available via the link below.

Cleaning services at our schools are provided by ISS in accordance with our procedures. As part of a specific work plan, daily, weekly, monthly, and holiday-periodic cleaning is carried out in our schools. Safety measures for occupational health and safety are monitored, evaluated, and developed according to the conditions by the cleaning services supervisor and the occupational safety officer. You can find our hygiene routines here .

Every academic year, we apply for the renewal of the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) “Clean School” certificate, which is mandatory for both public and private schools by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey for the prevention of infectious diseases and improving hygiene conditions. All of our campuses have the TSE “Clean School” certificates for the 2023-2024 academic year.

These certificates prove compliance with a list of 250 criteria under the “Protocol for Cooperation on Improving Hygiene Conditions and Preventing Infection in Educational Institutions” issued by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Turkey, ensuring that the health and safety conditions of all students, staff, and individuals within the campus are evaluated and approved via a certificate by the Turkish Standards Institute.

Health Care Resources

At our school, the “School Health Management” team, consisting of the following individuals, is responsible for ensuring the general health and well-being of students and all staff, developing, implementing, and monitoring health policies, programs, and taking initiatives that support a healthy living culture:

School Health Management:
1. School Nurses
2. School Doctor
3. School Management
4. Stakeholders trained in first aid

Açı Schools has a school nurse suitable for the number of students and staff at all its campuses.

Each of our campuses has a school nurse-this is decided according to the number of students and the staff at each campus. A part-time school doctor supports students, and a workplace doctor supports employees, visiting all our campuses at designated times. Details about the roles of our school nurses, school doctors, and the responsibilities of our parents can be found in our Health Procedures .

Healthy Living Programs

At Açı Schools, we place great importance on encouraging students to live healthy lives through our comprehensive “Healthy Living Programs” suitable for each age group. These programs are designed to educate and empower children to make positive choices regarding their nutrition, physical activity, and general well-being.

Healthy Eating: A cornerstone of our healthy living programs is nutrition education. We believe it is essential to teach students the importance of balanced nutrition and healthy food choices for their long-term health. Through age-appropriate workshops, cooking classes, and hands-on activities, students learn how to make healthier choices, while understanding the nutritional value of different foods.

Physical Activity: Another key component of our healthy living programs is physical activity. We offer a variety of opportunities for students to exercise and develop lifelong habits for staying active, ranging from morning sports, organized sports teams, dance and movement lessons, to outdoor activities. Our goal is to ensure that children feel the need to be physically active throughout their lives and make it a habitual part of their lifestyle.

Mental and Emotional Well-being: As part of a comprehensive health approach, we recognize the importance of promoting mental and emotional well-being. Therefore, our healthy living programs include awareness activities, stress management techniques, and resilience-building strategies appropriate to each age group. Students learn how to manage stress, develop a positive mindset, cope with different emotions, and build healthy relationships with themselves and others through age-appropriate activities such as yoga sessions and mindfulness practices.

Our healthy living programs are not just about imparting knowledge; they are about creating a culture of wellness within our school community. By creating an environment where healthy choices are encouraged, we support our students’ academic, social and physical development.
