Art

Art is a powerful learning tool that nurtures children’s imagination, boosts their self-confidence, and allows them to express their emotions. At our school, art education is designed with age-appropriate activities to help students discover their creativity, develop problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper perspective via art.

Our goal is to ensure that art becomes not just a subject but also a sustainable value in our students’ lives.

PRE-SCHOOL

In our Açı Preschool program, art is used as a means to expand children’s imagination and strengthen their social skills.

  • Creative Arts: Children engage in free drawing, painting, and various crafts, using their imagination to create their own worlds. Through colors, shapes, and textures, these activities help children express themselves.
  • Creative Play and Drama: Drama and play activities support social skills such as leadership, collaboration, and empathy. Children learn to take turns, wait, and work as a team while having fun. Moreover, these activities support children when they cannot yet articulate their emotions in words.
  • Meeting Famous Artists: Students learn about the techniques of selected famous artists appropriate to their age group and have the opportunity to experience these techniques themselves.
  • Experiential Art Field Trips: Age-appropriate exhibitions are closely followed and included in the trip plans.

The experiences gained through art strengthen their self-confidence and enrich their learning journey.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

At Açı Primary School, art classes support students’ creativity while encouraging them to gain a broader perspective on art. Our lessons aim to increase students’ interest in art, provide opportunities for them to develop their unique styles, support creative thinking, and enable them to express themselves through art.

  • Introduction to Art History: Students learn basic information about famous artists’ life stories and their works.
  • Practical Activities: Activities such as drawing, sculpture, and ceramics allow students to experiment with various materials. Themes such as landscapes, portraits, and still life are explored.
  • Art Field Trips: Regular visits to museums and art galleries are organized each year to reinforce learned concepts and introduce students to new artists.
  • At the end of each academic year, students have the opportunity to exhibit their work, deepening their interest in art. Additionally, students share their artistic journey with their families by presenting their projects as a portfolio at the end of the year.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

The “Açı Middle School Art Program” aims to develop students’ critical thinking abilities while enhancing their aesthetic understanding and interest in art. The information and skills introduced in the Preschool and Primary School art programs are elevated to a higher level through this program. The art program is structured based on the following general goals:

  • Interdisciplinary Approach: Topics such as drawing, graphic design, composition, and perspective are explored through both theoretical and practical study.
  • Design Principles: Concepts such as balance, contrast, harmony, and rhythm enable students to develop their creative thinking skills.
  • Art History and Analysis: Students analyze art movements and art history to learn about the contributions of different historical periods to the arts.

This process broadens students’ artistic perspectives, helps them develop visual awareness, and enables them to express themselves creatively. Clubs such as Visual Arts, Sculpture, Ceramics, Film, and Photography offer students in-depth experiences in different fields.

The program allows students to present their artistic work through individual and group exhibitions, gaining experience from the creation to the exhibition process. These activities aim to nurture sensitive, creative, and critical individuals who value art and artists.

HIGH SCHOOL

At Açı High School, the art program continues through club activities tailored to students’ individual interests and talents.

  • Original Projects: Students create individual projects in their chosen art disciplines, allowing them to develop their unique artistic styles.
  • Art and Music Clubs: Clubs focusing on visual arts, music, and theater support students’ artistic expression and creativity.
  • Personal and Group Exhibitions: Students have the opportunity to share their artistic experiences with the school community by exhibiting their work throughout the year.

This process strengthens their connection to art while laying a solid foundation for their future creative projects.
