Safety Practices

The safety and security of all our students, stakeholders, and visitors at Açı Schools are our top priority. To ensure this and to create a safe and nurturing learning environment, we implement comprehensive security procedures.

Our campuses are staffed with an adequate number of security personnel based on their location and needs. Below is the number of security personnel at each of our campuses:

  • Açı Akatlar Primary School Campus: 4
  • Açı Bahçeköy High School Campus: 3
  • Açı Kemerburgaz Preschool Campus: 2
  • Açı Levent Preschool Campus: 2
  • Açı Sarıyer Campus (Preschool-Primary-Middle School): 8

At Açı Schools, our “Security Practices” are built around the principles of prevention, intervention, collaboration, crisis communication, physical resource control, continuous evaluation, and improvement.
Different actions have been taken, and improvements and updates have been made according to the areas our campuses are located. A brief overview of our general security protocols for each campus is listed below.

Our Security Protocols

  • Our security personnel follow the general and school-specific safety, occupational health and safety instructions.
  • Our security personnel are responsible for ensuring the safety of everyone within the school and preventing potential external threats.
  • Our schools are under surveillance and monitoring by a fully-equipped professional security staff and a camera system.

School Entry and Exit Procedures:

  • Individuals entering the school
    • students,
    • school staff (administrative and academic),
    • parents,
    • Visitors entering the school (students, school staff (administrative and academic), parents, and authorized individuals, such as those authorized by parents to pick up students at the beginning of the academic year, and/or drivers) are required to present identification. They are recorded in the “Visitor Entry Log” and reported to the school principal and administrative affairs officer.
  • Parents who are recognized are greeted and allowed to enter.
  • Visitors accompanying parents are recorded in the “Visitor Entry Log” by their name.
  • If a parent is not recognized, identity verification is carried out.
  • For visitors coming to the school, it is checked which department and person they are visiting, the visit is confirmed by phone with that person, and the visitor’s ID is verified.
  • The department and person the visitor is visiting are identified, and confirmation is obtained via phone. The visitor’s identity is verified.
  • Students wishing to leave before the school exit time (early exit) must not leave without an “exit permission slip.”
    • The parent picking up the student from school must adhere to the specific instructions and procedures determined by the school management. Therefore, parents must:
    • Inform the school management about how/with whom the student will arrive at school at the beginning of the academic year.
    • Notify the school management and update the school automation system with the names of those authorized to pick up the student at the beginning of the academic year.
    • Notify the school management and update the school automation system regarding any changes to the student’s arrival method and the authorized persons to pick them up in case of emergencies during the academic year.
    • If an unauthorized person wishes to pick up the student, the visitor entry procedure is applied, and the person is kept outside the school until the student’s parent is contacted. If the parent approves the individual, the student is handed over; the student cannot leave with any person without the parent’s consent.
  • For special events, shows, and organizations, guests are admitted according to a list provided by the school management. Individuals not on the list are not allowed to enter.

Special Situations

  • In the case of ongoing family issues involving legal action (such as disputes between parents, marital problems, divorce, etc.), the procedures are followed based on the stages of the legal process.
    • If the parents have decided to separate and the court case is ongoing, an interim decision regarding the children is requested and reported to the school management.
    • Until an interim decision is made, the person designated as the parent at the time of registration continues to have the duties and responsibilities of the parent.
    • After the legal process is completed, the court decision is requested from the parents, and actions are taken according to the decision.
