Our school is dedicated to effectively preparing children and young people for the adult world, with a focus on their safety and well-being. As a fundamental principle, we aim to create a nurturing environment where students feel safe and supported.
The Turkish Child Protection Law No. 5395 defines a child in need of protection as a person whose physical, mental, moral, social, and emotional development, as well as personal safety, are at risk due to neglect, abuse, or involvement in crime. Protecting a child involves safeguarding them from abuse, neglect, crime, and threats to their physical, mental, moral, social, and emotional health. The protective and supportive measures taken when a child is in need of protection are an integral part of child protection services. The concept of child protection encompasses the philosophy, policies, standards, and principles required to protect children from any harm, whether intentional or unintentional. It also includes taking necessary precautions against risks that could negatively affect the child’s life and advocating for their well-being.
The child protection policy expresses the intention to protect children from harm and outlines the necessary obligations to ensure their protection through concrete actions. As an educational institution committed to the welfare of our students, it is essential for us to establish clear guidelines and procedures to protect children and young people in our school environment. Our child protection policy is designed to create a safe and secure space where students can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. By implementing robust policies and procedures, Açı Schools aims to create an environment where children and young people can learn, grow, and develop without the fear of harm or exploitation. In line with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, we have developed and implemented a child protection policy. All activities under this policy are carried out in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, the Child Protection Law, the Ministry of National Education Regulations for Preschool Education and Primary Schools, and the Middle School Institutions Regulation.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, entered into force in 1990. States which support the agreement, which aims to protect children’s rights, are obligated to adhere to the necessary responsibilities to implement these rights. Turkey is among the countries that have signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child. You can access the full text of the Convention via the provided link .
Açı Schools is an accredited educational institution by the Council of International Schools (CIS), committed to child protection and the well-being of students. In this regard, we adopt and implement all the principles upheld by CIS in the area of child protection, contributing to the acceptance of child protection standards on international platforms.
