Açı values, which guide all our school practices, are also the fundamental principles that shape Açı teacher experience.
With our belief in production and sharing, we begin the academic year in August with an opening speech that reinforces our sense of being an Açı member. Açı. This process continues throughout the year with program development, planning, and material preparation tasks as well as in-school and out-of-school training opportunities; seminars to share professional experiences; social activities that enrich school life; overseas school visits and cultural trips; and personal development opportunities such as yoga, rhythm, and English language learning. All these ongoing efforts serve for creating more effective learning opportunities for our students. Our daily routine, which begins with welcoming students with a smile, includes morning sports and sharing time, garden and meal times, school trips, all-school reading hours, and school weeks.
All of these experiences create new learning opportunities for both our students and us, and getting to know each other better, we enjoy the pleasure of learning together.
In our effort to internalize our Açı values , our “Ethics Committee,” which continues its work with the participation of volunteer teachers, supports us. Our committee plays a significant role in ensuring that the principles in the ethical manifesto, such as honesty, respect, open communication, and tolerance, become part of our school culture.
Our teachers, who aim to nurture critical thinkers, creative, and self-confident individuals, follow recent developments in the field of education and maintain a student-centered and multifaceted approach to teaching.
37% of our teachers hold a master’s degree and have an average of 11 years of experience. Our school administrators, on the other hand, have an average of 18 years of experience, 16 of which with at Açı Schools.
We have 1,744 students and 301 teachers and the teacher-student ratio is 1:6, meaning that one teacher is responsible for every six students. 16% of our teachers are native speakers of English.
As it is our common practice, this year we have successfully completed an intensive and enjoyable August seminar period with all of our new and existing academic and administrative staff.
Our orientation program for our new teachers provided them with the opportunity to closely learn about our practices that reflect the philosophy, mission, and vision of Açı Schools, through planned training sessions, workshops, and discussions. In addition to the in-service training program that will continue throughout the year, our experienced teachers, academic leaders, and school administrators will continue to mentor new teachers and support them in adapting to our school culture.
We know that we are not alone in our effort to raise individuals who think, question, learn, and make a difference with what they have learned through every learning experience. With this in mind, we created a sharing platform with the thought that we might make a contribution through what we do, to all the teachers who put great effort for their students. We will always share our practices that we find beneficial with all our colleagues who are passionate about education in this platform.
